How to Become Younger in Your 70s!

Picture painted by Angela A. Stanton, PhD.

About 40 years ago, I had a root canal and a crown of tooth #4. It’s a molar so essential for chewing meat. For 40 years it worked perfectly. Last week my dentist took a 360-degree X-ray of my teeth and jaws and noticed a possible problem around #4. It had a dark shadow around it, suggesting an infection and that the tooth was loose.

On Friday this week, that is yesterday, I went back for a consultation by a specialist, a periodontist. He confirmed the infection and pointed out that the tooth was actually broken by the crown’s long metal end. I agreed to an immediate tooth removal.

This dentist is amazing and so was the periodontist. Not a moment of pain or discomfort, in spite of the tooth having been broken into 3-4 pieces and it was a fishing expedition. After the last stiches were in, the assistant advised me what to do to care for it and what to eat. I was told to eat only the following foods for the next few weeks:

Mashed potatoes/grits, soup, pasta, milkshakes/protein shakes, oatmeal, yogurt, Jell-O and puddings, tofu, pancakes, apple sauce, and similar.

I looked at the assistant with a smile and told her: ummm… I eat carnivore, so I don’t eat any vegetables at all. 😉

She looked at me with total amazement. She repeated what I said as a questions: You mean you don’t eat any vegetables? Fruits? How about blueberries?

I said: Nope, I mostly only eat meat.

She said: YOU CANNOT EAT STEAK!

This was soooo definitive that I didn’t ask anymore questions.

Tonight I had a lovely steak.

Why Am I Writing This?

The only reason I was able to eat a steak tonight is because in 24 hours I literally healed the wound completely!

Tonight I was chewing a chewing gum on the side where they pulled the tooth, not because I wanted to, but because I forgot they pulled a tooth.

I have absolutely zero pain, zero swelling, zero discomfort whatsoever.

How did I heal this fast. The answer is simple. I eat hypercarnivore–meaning >95% of what I eat is animal products, such as beef, chicken, eggs, pork, bison, duck, fish, seafood, and dairy, and I eat a small amount of fruit time to time.

And what I found over the past 15 years is that eating the right food changes your body. My healing from everything is extremely fast! A cut on my finger also heals in one day. But this is counterintuitive because as we get older, we are supposed to become more frail and heal slow or not at all.

Getting Younger in Your 70s

Most people heal very fast in their youth, maybe even in their 50s. But boy, you reach your 60s and 70s and healing slows and illnesses increase. That is the “norm” in modern society.

But it need not be that way.

I changed my way of eating in my mid 50s, so almost 20 years ago. At that time I was taking over a dozen mediations, had over a dozen health conditions, and felt very old.

After the change of my diet, especially in the last 6 years of eating carnivore or keto or mixing the two into hypercarnivore, I cured all my diseases and take zero medications.

Indeed, I am getting younger in my 70s. And yes, where my tooth was pulled, is fully healed in one day. Amazing!

Questions are welcome, as always, and are scrutinized for appropriateness.

About Angela A Stanton, Ph.D.

Angela A Stanton, PhD, is a Neuroeconomist focusing on chronic pain--migraine in particular--physiology, electrolyte homeostasis, nutrition, and genetics. She lives in Southern California. Her current research is focused on migraine cause, prevention, and treatment without the use of medicine. As a forever migraineur from childhood, her discovery was helped by experimenting on herself. She found the cause of migraine to be at the ionic level, associated with disruption of the electrolyte homeostasis, resulting from genetic variations of all voltage dependent channels, gates, and pumps (chanelopathy) that modulate electrolyte mineral density and voltage in the brain. In addition, insulin and glucose transporters, and several other variants, such as MTHFR variants of B vitamin methylation process and many others are different in the case of a migraineur from the general population. Migraineurs are glucose sensitive (carbohydrate intolerant) and should avoid eating carbs as much as possible. She is working on her hypothesis that migraine is a metabolic disease. As a result of the success of the first edition of her book and her helping over 5000 migraineurs successfully prevent their migraines world wide, all ages and both genders, and all types of migraines, she published the 2nd (extended) edition of her migraine book "Fighting The Migraine Epidemic: Complete Guide: How To Treat & Prevent Migraines Without Medications". The 2nd edition is the “holy grail” of migraine cause, development, and prevention, incorporating all there is to know. It includes a long section for medical and research professionals. The book is full of academic citations (over 800) to authenticate the statements she makes to make it easy to follow up by those interested and to spark further research interest. It is a "Complete Guide", published on September 29, 2017. Dr. Stanton received her BSc at UCLA in Mathematics, MBA at UCR, MS in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University, PhD in Economics with dissertation in neuroscience (culminating in Neuroeconomics) at Claremont Graduate University, fMRI certification at Harvard University Medical School at the Martinos Center for Neuroimaging for experimenting with neurotransmitters on human volunteers, certification in LCHF/ketogenic diet from NN (Nutrition Network), certification in physiology (UPEN via Coursea), Nutrition (Harvard Shool of Public Health) and functional medicine studies. Dr. Stanton is an avid sports fan, currently power weight lifting and kickboxing. For relaxation (yeah.. about a half minute each day), she paints and photographs and loves to spend time with her family of husband of 45 years, 2 sons and their wives, and 2 granddaughters.
