I was contacted by a migraine member in one of my Facebook migraine groups (I have two, one is here and the other here. She knew that I often write about medicines (Drugs of Shame series such as on Topamax, Statins, Aimovig, and on SSRIs in general) that harm people. She sent to me a story about Cymbalta. The story was written by one of her friends, who is the wife of the person on Cymbalta. The story was such an eye-opener that I immediately asked if I could publish it. You find the story here.

On the day of the publishing Cymbalta: A Neurological Damage Machine it was shared and read several thousand times. Lots of people take Cymbalta! Don’t take any of your friends for granted and don’t assume that they don’t take it! Please ask and help them see the monster!

It is a "Complete Guide", published on September 29, 2017. Dr. Stanton received her BSc at UCLA in Mathematics, MBA at UCR, MS in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University, PhD in Economics with dissertation in neuroscience (culminating in Neuroeconomics) at Claremont Graduate University, fMRI certification at Harvard University Medical School at the Martinos Center for Neuroimaging for experimenting with neurotransmitters on human volunteers, certification in LCHF/ketogenic diet from NN (Nutrition Network), certification in physiology (UPEN via Coursea), Nutrition (Harvard Shool of Public Health) and functional medicine studies. Dr. Stanton is an avid sports fan, currently power weight lifting and kickboxing.           and just a reminder – try to have “grace” and kindness for some folks who really think the allopathic mainstream way is the “only” way – or they think it is the “right” way. So many of us have been raised and brainwashed to think that modern medicine via hospitals is respectable and they do not see the symptom management and use of dangerous drugs. Do not want to go there right now, but alternative medicine is tossed out the window and we are too quick to slice into the human body and too quick to only manage a symptom.

        • Prior, I don’t toss alternative medicine out but I don’t think that

          1) we should be taking alternative medicines when we don’t know for sure what they are and how they work (and we don’t since no one is checking in them) and
          2) we should never mix Western and eastern medicines.

          Eastern medicines work very well on heir own but when people start using them in Western counties while taking Western diet, lifestyle, and medicines at the same time, trouble happens.

          I am, however, 100% against homeopathic treatments. If you read what they are, you will agree. I am also against vitamins and supplements to take without any verification that one needs them. If you look into the adverse reactions database at the FDA and pull any quarter, sort the data (it comes in Excel) based on medicine, you will find that vitamins are the #2 on the list with adverse reactions. #1 is Aspirin. It is important to realize that there is some value to be had by using Western medicine BUT we must use them sparingly and only when necessary. And prevention is paramount.

          Nutrition is medicine–so let’s eat accordingly.

          Hi – there are too many things being talked about right now – and we have not properly defined how we are using the terms.
          I might define alternative medicine way different from you.
          and I never said to mix western or eastern.
          I do think the body needs a chance to heal and
          I disagree with you about vitamins – but thanks for your awesome reply –
          but as you know – we have to really look close at “research” because often their are limitation or we just need to know what was used and how. For example, many studies on vitamin D used “D-2” and not D-3. That matters.
          And since when is aspirin a vitamin???? I know folks that use bits of salicylic acid for things – but aspirin is not a vitamin or mineral.
          It also leads to leaky gut and well…. __

          So in my mind – when i said alternative medicine – I was just thinking simply in terms of using magnesium chloride to help an imbalanced body.
          I perosnally used vitamins, minerals and supplements (like NAC) and glandulars to heal from the inside out. I used respectable companies that i trust and if you want to explore more how vitamins can help heal – look at Dr. Hoffer’s work from the 1950’s with Niacin flushing for Schizophrenia.
          And so maybe in your work and life experience oyu have not seen vitamins and minerals help heal – I have had a different experience and so have people in some of my healing groups.
          Of course the goal is to get all nutrients from food – as you noted – nutrition is medicine – but sometimes a human body needs supplements to help get them balance so they can absorb again (cos we are not what we eat – we are “what we absorb” from what we eat) –

        • Aspirin is not a vitamin. I didn’t suggest it was. The FDA database for adverse reporting is for all medicines, vitamins, and supplements. So one database, in which Aspirin has the most adverse reactions reported and vitamins are the second with the most adverse reactions reported, hence Aspirin is #1 and vitamin is #2. I think you misunderstood me.

          Vitamins are not needed if one eats the right foods–and that’s not vegetables and fruits for their vitamins. I agree with D research but when one looks at research, one reads if they used D2 vs D3. So the task is not hard at all. One just disregards the D2 studies completely. However, D is actually a hormone and not a vitamin, so I was not even thinking about that as a vitamin–though I know it is categorized under vitamins–incorrectly.

          Magnesium chloride is a supplement rather than alternative medicine–it is one form of elemental magnesium, an essential mineral that is part of our electrolyte.

          Alternative medicine is anything that is used for a disease (other than a supplement) to heal an illness with something other than medicines.

          In terms of looking at vitamins and alternate care and to learn more: I have learned a lot about them–including pharmacology–and how they work. I also know that, for example, “Niacin flushing for Schizophrenia” is used to test if one has Schizophrenia. However, this is used because people with that mental condition lack omega 3 and 6 polyunsaturated fatty acids in their red blood cell membranes, since they have abnormal membrane phospholipid metabolism. However, this abnormal phospholipid metabolism can be associated with other genetic health conditions, not just Schizophrenia, so there can easily be a misdiagnosis–unless one already suspect that the person has Schizophrenia. We may then use that as a starting point.

          Not only have I not seen most vitamins not heal but I have seen most harm. I recommend to all my patients to supplement magnesium (not chloride but other forms), and salt. And nothing else. Replace vegetable, nut, and seed oils with animal fats, trash grains (all grains), all starches, all high sugar low fiber fruits and veggies, and eat real whole animal foods, sea food, eggs, and dairy. You would be amazed at the health effects.

          In fact, I now have a baby boom among my migraineurs, whom for years have tried to get pregnant and never could. Finally, under my dietary help, we have a TON of new moms-to-be and some already are moms. And these are migraineurs, off all of their medicines, off all vitamins and supplements (other than magnesium and salt), and are pain free happy moms or moms-to-be!

          No supplements, no vitamins, no doctors, no medicines: only healthy food that is animal food centered.
