About Angela A Stanton, Ph.D.

Angela A Stanton, PhD, is a Neuroeconomist focusing on chronic pain--migraine in particular--physiology, electrolyte homeostasis, nutrition, and genetics. She lives in Southern California. Her current research is focused on migraine cause, prevention, and treatment without the use of medicine. As a forever migraineur from childhood, her discovery was helped by experimenting on herself. She found the cause of migraine to be at the ionic level, associated with disruption of the electrolyte homeostasis, resulting from genetic variations of all voltage dependent channels, gates, and pumps (chanelopathy) that modulate electrolyte mineral density and voltage in the brain. In addition, insulin and glucose transporters, and several other variants, such as MTHFR variants of B vitamin methylation process and many others are different in the case of a migraineur from the general population. Migraineurs are glucose sensitive (carbohydrate intolerant) and should avoid eating carbs as much as possible. She is working on her hypothesis that migraine is a metabolic disease. As a result of the success of the first edition of her book and her helping over 5000 migraineurs successfully prevent their migraines world wide, all ages and both genders, and all types of migraines, she published the 2nd (extended) edition of her migraine book "Fighting The Migraine Epidemic: Complete Guide: How To Treat & Prevent Migraines Without Medications". The 2nd edition is the “holy grail” of migraine cause, development, and prevention, incorporating all there is to know. It includes a long section for medical and research professionals. The book is full of academic citations (over 800) to authenticate the statements she makes to make it easy to follow up by those interested and to spark further research interest. It is a "Complete Guide", published on September 29, 2017. Dr. Stanton received her BSc at UCLA in Mathematics, MBA at UCR, MS in Management Science and Engineering at Stanford University, PhD in Economics with dissertation in neuroscience (culminating in Neuroeconomics) at Claremont Graduate University, fMRI certification at Harvard University Medical School at the Martinos Center for Neuroimaging for experimenting with neurotransmitters on human volunteers, certification in LCHF/ketogenic diet from NN (Nutrition Network), certification in physiology (UPEN via Coursea), Nutrition (Harvard Shool of Public Health) and functional medicine studies. Dr. Stanton is an avid sports fan, currently power weight lifting and kickboxing. For relaxation (yeah.. about a half minute each day), she paints and photographs and loves to spend time with her family of husband of 45 years, 2 sons and their wives, and 2 granddaughters. The saga continues. Here’s a recent (feb 3) article in Scientific American: “The Hidden Harm of Antidepressants”. Well…….um……not that we didn’t know already, eh? But then again, we are from a different flock 😀

And don’t forget to moderate this. Grrrrr.

Yep… what’s new? There are several articles going around about the papers that are accepted in peer reviewed journals that are all wrong; studies that are all misleading; and those where the numbers have been manipulated. I myself refused several articles under my review but they still published becuase of the 3 reviewers the other two had no clue what they are reviewing. Unfortunately this is totally true and very sickening. This is a very corrupt industry from top to bottom and nothing we can do about it at the moment. I fight it left and right but then hey, look at the comments form common people on my Himalayan Salt article! See how people support corruption and criticize those who try to help them! So one basically fights both sides of the sword and no matter which, the edge will cut the one who speaks up and not the ones who commits the crime or the those who use the products. So what can one do? This is at least the 5th paper I read about this and saw at least 3 reporting on TV. So what is happening? Nothing.

Had to roll my eyes a bit at “because that’s how capitalism works” (the misuse of something isn’t how it works), but this is a serious problem. Doctors, who pledge to the do-no-harm oath, acting careless, and buyers acting without conscience. It’s always an uphill battle going against the establishment, even as a scientist (or especially as one if you know too much and they fear you). So many fingers in the pie…

    • I agree that this is how capitalism works but for some reason capitalism (in the mind of the consumer) does not include medicine. I understand the pharmaceuticals; they have to please their shareholders so they have no choice. I also understand the establishments of hospitals since they too need to make a profit for their shareholders. I do not understand the doctor who accepts money from pharmaceuticals for prescribing medicines or “research” or getting free meals or whatever money or any free service as gift! Not a penny can be explained to me adamjasonp because they have no shareholders. They have sworn up for the oath of “DO NO HARM”… But they do harm and they knowingly do so. This capitalism does not explain. Only one word explains it: greed.

    How about this:

The first video is, for instance, also brought by Health Impact News. Which one could consider as doing the right stuff, right? On the same page, though, I found an advertisement for maple syrup. Is that doing the right thing too?

And so it is all over the place these days. Even within a news video itself I can find advertisements. And the appalling thing is, that a video can be about horrible things happening to people, while the advertisement shows me how great a new car is, a new KFC-sandwich, or whatever triviality. How seriously am I supposed to take the main message then? This mega stinks in my view, and is built on the same idea as what Big Pharma, politicians, priests, doctors, ministers, therapists, lawyers, and other “key people” are building on: The gullibility, laziness, and indifference of their clients/audience!

Ergo: The culprit is not only to be found among the “sellers”, but definitely among the “buyers” as well. The attitude and behavior of the latter make it possible, and easy, for the “sellers” to con them.

    • Oh I totally agree Roald! Everyone wants to make money–hence the ads. There is nothing for free anymore. I used to say that a website with many ads is not worth my time but I can see that there are no pages without ads… ergo “being human” is the motto. And yes, consumers are to blame. If I could get everyone in the world to do for one day what the members do in my migraine group, many sugar companies would go out of business on the spot. I wish I could have the world do that! I know the migraine group is already making a dent in all consumption: sugar, sugar substitutes and simple carbs like anything made of flours are all no go. No tea, no smoothies, no juices or shakes, no alcohol, and by now almost all are off their medicines as well. Some save over $20k a year. Hey.. so far over 4000 people went through that group! That is a lot of money not spent on these stupid things! Eventually it will progress to the point of damage to the industry. It is a grassroots effort. I am changing the consumers. Yes, that is the right way to do it Roald, you hit it right on the head, as always. 😀
